When Shoetopia sent a tweet out last week about custom painted Toms, I knew I was overdue for a stop at my favorite Norman Shoe Store. A display of the latest Toms greeted me through the front window on Boyd Street. Upon further investigation, I found these:
What a great Christmas idea for a close friend? The nice touch is that you are actually giving two gifts. Toms philosophy states that for every pair of Toms sold, they give a pair to a child in need.
The key to creating a custom design on a pair of Toms is to use acrylic waterproof fabric paint. Personally, I also suggest Scotchguard to protect any canvas or fabric shoes from stains (I would spray on after your designs have been painted).
Toms shoes has a special section of their website dedicated to “Style Your Sole.” If anyone hosts a Style Your Sole Holiday party, I want an invitation!
